Within our territory are 4 provincial parks protecting 35% of the territory. NLO cater to the sportsman looking for a quality hunt, and most importantly a great and memorable experience. We are a 3rd generation outfitter in this territory, our territory has remained within the same family since 1949.
Your hosts Myself (Chad) and wife Naomi Hanson have worked our entire working lives in the guide outfitting business. We are serious about the details and logistics that make outfitting a true profession. We take pride in providing each client with a great hunt and memorable trip. We are passionate about our territory and business and it shows in the quality of equipment, staff and game we produce year after year.
I have been guiding fisherman and hunters since finishing highschool. Before becoming Outfitter of this area, I had the pleasure of serving as a assistant guide for 13 years in this area under my father in-law and former Outfitter Jim Tourond. Jim's uncle Barry Grainger was the original outfitter of this area dating back to 1949. Currently this is my 23rd year guiding in this area and I personally lead and guide all hunting trips, when another guide is needed we hire assistant guides with the best qualifications we can find.
My wife Naomi Hanson grew up in the guide outfitting business, as her father Jim was guide outfitter of this territory for over 25 years. Naomi is well known for her delicious home cooked meals and tireless work ethic. Currently raising 3 young kids, Naomi is very busy but still makes time to come and cook at camp once in awhile but also ensuring all hunters are comfortable and have what they need to make their trip a success!
Nanika Lake Outfitters offer a 10 day mountain goat hunt as well as a 11 day mountain goat/moose combination hunt in the remote mountainous area of our 1250 sq. mile guiding territory. We have 3 different fly-in back country lakes from which to hunt these rugged billies. These lakes are only accessible by float plane so hunting pressure is next to nothing. No more then 3 goats a year are taken in our territory ensuring a high success rate. Our area backs into the Coastal Mountain Range of BC, known for the biggest goats in the world! Goats average over 9 inch's with 10 inch + goats common.
All fly-in locations are equipped with cabins with wood heat and transportation on the lake is by boat. We stop at various vantage points along the lake using spotting scopes to look at the goats. When a trophy goat is located and is in a favorable location, only then do we make our stalk up the mountain. Clients should be in excellent physical condition as mountain goat hunting requires hiking in rugged terrain, sometimes in uncomfortable conditions.
Nanika Lake Outfitters has been hunting these areas for over 25 years, we have a excellent understanding of their habits, where they live and how to get them! The goat hides at this time of year are quality, as the mountain nights are cold and their winter hair is beginning to grow making for a exceptional trophy.

Nanika Lake Outfitters offer a 10 day spring or fall Mountain Grizzly/Black bear hunt. This is a true spot and stalk hunt for perhaps natures ultimate trophy. This hunt is for the serious sportsman looking for a one of a kind experience in a truly beautiful part of the world.
The Grizzly in our area range in many color phases. From silver tipped on dark brown to brown tipped on blond, to a multiple of other combinations, no two bears are the same. With strict quotas placed on hunting Grizzlies in BC, the population of bears in our area is increasing. We only take at most 1 bear per year ensuring a healthy population and high success on our hunts. Grizzly in our area square out on average 7 and a half feet with the real Big bruins topping 8 feet! In the spring we target the south facing open hillsides as well as the logged over areas looking to intercept a roaming boar. Its breeding season and the large boars are on the move! In the fall we concentrate on salmon rich streams and logging blocks where berries grow, as this is a main staple of their diet at this time of year. Mountain grizzly are known as one of the toughest animals in the wild to hunt, it takes patience, planning, and luck to harvest this one of a kind trophy.
Hunts are conducted from our base camp and we use 4x4 truck, boat, and hiking as transportation. Come and experience this ultimate test of hunting will and determination with Nanika Lake Outfitters!

Nanika Lake Outfitters offer a 6 day spring or fall black bear hunt, as well as a 10 day black bear/ moose combo hunt in the fall. In BC it is illegal to bait bears, this is a spot and stalk hunt in the roaded area of our 1250 sq. mile hunting territory. We hunt the open grassy hillsides and logging roads in the spring. The bears are hungry after a long winter sleep and are on the move searching for fresh new vegetation. At this time of year it's common to see up to 5 bears a day and on a "bear day" when the conditions are favorable 5-12 is normal, sometimes with several stalk attempts. We hunt for 4-5 hours each morning with a midday break followed by a 5-6 hour evening hunt. During the fall hunt we target berry patches and logging blocks with the same 2 hunts per day approach as in the spring. Our area is full of bears, in fact you can take two bears if you desire. 5-15% of our bears are color phase ranging from solid black, to black with a white blaze, to cinnamon and chocolate. Our bears average 5 1/2 - 6 feet squared with the monster boars going 7 feet.
We hunt for these bears from our base camp and we can accommodate up to four hunters at once. If you want a black bear or two, this is your outfit, we boast a 100% opportunity rate, not to mention a quality experience in a must see area of the world!

With a 9 week season, 5 different camps to hunt from, and one of the best areas in BC to hunt moose your search for a great moose hunt has led you to the right place. Our area is so vast, we can hunt a different location each of the 9 weeks. Our 3 fly-in lakes are only accessible by float plane, normally no more then 1 hunt a year is conducted from each location limiting hunting pressure and ensuring quality moose year after year. All fly-in locations are equipped with cabins with wood heat and transportation is by boat and hiking. These hunts are conducted during the rut as we look to "call in" one of these massive giants.
Our late season road hunts are conducted from our base camp. We hunt second growth logging blocks with a "spot and stalk" approach on our late season hunts. The snow is beginning to fly and the moose start to move down from the higher ground into there wintering range, where our base camp is located. This is definitely a hunt for the meat hunter looking to fill the freezer, however some of our biggest bulls are taken at this time of year.
Moose in our area average 30 - 40 inches with Trophy moose to 55 inches. In our hunting area there are no size restrictions, any bull is game. For hunters looking to harvest a trophy Canadian moose to hunters looking for a meat hunt, Nanika Lake Outfitters can structure a hunt for you.
